The 2024 Oscars aired live on March 10 an hour earlier than normal at 4 PM PST. Jimmy Kimmel hosted and shared the stage with Zendaya, Kate McKinnon, America Ferrera, Emily Blunt, John Mulaney, Ryan Gosling and many more A-listers. Oppenheimer led this year's awards with 13 nominations and coming away with 7 wins. And I am happy to say I was the winner of my household with 11 correct guesses on my Oscar ballot, followed by Max with 8. Take a peak at our predictions here.
High of the 2024 Oscars
Ryan Gosling sang "I'm Just Ken" in a sparkling pink suit, complete with a set of pink leather gloves and a pink champagne flute, in a fashion that would make Harry Styles jealous. Slash came out to shred on guitar as Simu Liu and other Ken cast members danced along. Emma Stone, Margot Robbie, America Ferrera and Greta Gerwig all sang along into the mic when Ryan pointed it to them.
Low of the 2024 Oscars
The announcer microphones were blown out, muddling the quality of the audio for nearly every award. Definitely felt like something they could have fixed in the commercial breaks but it continued through the broadcast.
WINNERS OF THE 2024 OSCARS
ACTOR IN A LEADING ROLE | Oscars 2024
Nicholas Cage, Matthew McConaughey, Brendan Fraser, Forest Whitaker and Ben Kingsley took turns to compliment each nominee before announcing the winner for Actor in a Leading Role. This is the first Oscar win and nomination for Cillian Murphy. He said that they made this film about the creation of the atomic bomb and for better or for worse, "we are living in Oppenheimer's world." He thanked the peacemakers around the world before ending his speech.

Sally Field, Jennifer Lawrence, Michelle Yeoh, Charlize Theron and Jessica Lange announced this category's winner. Each former winner gave a glowing compliment to each of the nominees personal qualities and character traits before Emma Stone won for her work in Poor Things. This is the second Oscar win for Emma Stone, after receiving the honor for her work in LaLa Land. Emma Stone started her speech in tears and showed her broken zipper on her dress, blaming the "I'm Just Ken" dance. She said that she was sharing her award with Lily Gladstone, her fellow nominees and everyone who poured their soul into Poor Things.

This is the first Oscar win in Ukrainian history. Director Mstyslav Chernov said he wished that he could exchange his award to have never had the need to make the film in the first place. He made a plea for Russia to release the Ukranian hostages and wished safety for all the soldiers that are protecting their lands and all the civilians in their jails. "We can make sure that the history record is set straight and the truth will prevail and the people of Mariupol, and those who have given their lives will never be forgotten," he said at the end of his speech.
